Meet our new apprentice, Liam!

Liam

Liam has recently joined NTE as a Broadband Support Engineer. Working towards a Level 3 Infrastructure Technician qualification, he provides 1stline broadband support to NTE’s Tech Support Team.

As Liam’s first full-time job since leaving education, his 12-month apprenticeship at NTE provides him with the opportunity to support leading-edge technology and progress his technical skills in a fast-paced and varied environment.

No one day is the same at NTE. Liam’s role varies from providing 1stline broadband technical support for customers to learning how to implement and test new data services such as ASDL, VoIP, Ethernet and FTTC. He also has the opportunity to build relationships with our customers by providing them with regular updates and feedback.

Reflecting on his time at NTE so far Liam says, “NTE has provided me with a perfect chance to kick-start my career and I couldn’t be happier. Despite only being with NTE for a few weeks, I can easily say my experience so far has been better than I could have anticipated. I felt welcomed from the get-go and have been heavily supported along the way. I am learning and developing my skills every day. The apprenticeship route gives you the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the reward of a qualification at the end. I’d recommend it to anyone and I’m excited to see where my apprenticeship will take me with NTE.”

John Patterson, Director of NTE commented, “My career started 30 years ago when I completed an apprenticeship. The opportunity set me on a career path and focussed my mind, I wanted to give that same opportunity to more young people in the North East area. After the success of previous apprentices who, to this day, are still loyal company employees, we are eager to hire keen young minds that can be moulded into our company ethos. We are providing Liam with access to an exciting career in a high technology industry with all the support and guidance he needs. We’re looking forward to seeing how he’ll progress.
